Conservation through community
Welcome to the Derwentwater Foreshore – one of the Lake District’s most beautiful places visited by thousands of people each year.
The Derwentwater Foreshore lies close to the town of Keswick with spectacular views of the Borrowdale Valley. It's only a few minutes to walk from the town centre, and it’s a great starting point to discover more about the area or to set off on your very own Lake District adventure.
The Derwentwater Foreshore Project was a Heritage Lottery Funded programme involving site owners, users, local people and conservation organisations.
It aimed to restore the site, improve the long-term management and increase opportunities for visitors and the local community.
The project ran from 2008 to 2012. Use this website to help you explore this special part of the Lake District and find out more about it.
