Local schools carried out a number of projects to help understand and interpret the Foreshore.

Primary schools were involved with the creation of a ‘Big Book’ filled with stories about Derwentwater. Braithwaite, Threlkeld and Borrowdale schools produced The View from Here, a children’s guidebook to the Foreshore. The view from here

Keswick School, the local secondary school, created much of the subway ceramic mural, including all of the paintings features in the artwork and the hand made fish and leaf tiles. Keswick School also ran a mini drama and storytelling festival on the Foreshore.

Interpretation on the Foreshore
Information panels have been added to the foreshore near the Lake Road subway, over looking the boat jetties and on your way to Friar's Crag. Read more ....

A floor to ceiling ceramics mural designed and constructed by artist Penny Hampson, in partnership with year 10 pupils from Keswick School. Read more ....

Landscape improvements
A huge landscaping project was carried out to create a series of spaces that were functional, attractive, robust, accessible and appropriate to the landscape.
